Advice on JSA Suspension

I got fired from my previous job, and claimed for Job Seekers. I was sure I said on my form that I was fired, but they asked the employers for more information, which led to the employers sending back documents that told a few lies, not to mention I don't think they needed to show these documents, just say the reason I was fired for. Despite me telling the JSA people that the employers had lied (one was about a loan we didn't even get or apply for and wasn't even talked about with the employers, in other words, they put something down based on hearsay), they still suspended me.

I know they can do this for people who got fired, and I was allowed hardship, but it was suppose to finish on the 22nd of July. I found out at singing on that there was no money assigned to me. I phoned up and the kind lady on the other end sent an email to them because they were still making a decision or something over the suspension, telling them to phone me back asap with the decision. I get a call back by a guy with a strong accent and apparently I'm still on suspension, or it's been extended. Can they do this? I got no letter saying they may extend it, and still got no letter telling me I'm on suspension, or how long for. I don't recall anything in the last letter telling me that the suspension could be extended either, I was under the impression it would end on the 22nd.

If anyone can give me advice it would be greatly appreciated, I'm going to phone them to try and get answers, and see if I can still get hardship or if I have to re-apply. I am also going to a job club and going to see about getting some volunteer work for better references in a job I'm better equipped at doing.
Thank you for looking.

When did you leave your job?

Have you actually been disallowed or is your claim still awaiting a final decision?

It is standard practice to write to the employer but you should also be given your own opportunity to provide evidence and tell your side of what happened.

Even without the lies if you were sacked through misconduct and that's true then the suspension/disallowance will stand

  • In February, and I think it must still be awaiting a decision, the guy I last spoke to said I would have to speak to my hardship advisor/decision maker to see if I'm still able for hardship, but I don't know who that is.
