Advice RE redelivery to buyer via DHL.

Hi,

I sold an item on ebay and it was despatched on 1st June and delivery for 4th June. This info was e-mailed to buyer on day of despatch. Buyer e-mailed me last night and said that he still has not recieved the item. I then found out that DHL tried to deliver on Monday as expected but buyer was not in to collect, however DHL did not leave a card.

Now I have tried to find a suitable day so I can arrange redelivery for the buyer but he cannot give me a day where he will be in a majority of the day and says that Tuesday is my best bet as someone could be in most of the day. Now if DHL redeliver and they are not in to collect again, what should I do??

Thanks in advance guys :money:

If he's not in next time, get him to collect from the DHL depot.

Exclamation and question marks - ONE exclamation mark or question mark is sufficient to exclaim or ask about something. More than one just makes you look/sound like a prat.

I wouldn't blame the buyer necessarily - I had dhl claim to have tried to deliver to me twice - complete rubbish then they did try to deliver a few days later when I was out, had to go pick the item up to find they had damaged it.

Have you given the buyer the tracking number? Why not give them that and the phone number and ask them to call and arrange a delivery slot that sits them.

Whatever YOU do your on to a hiding to nothing. This is the reason I still use SD for most of my deliveries at least when the buyer isn't in the parcel is kept locally and they can collect.

Couriers can be so hit and miss, takes me ages to get mine all trained to deliver correctly, BUT the buyer has to make himself available if he is going to use EBay.

One other thing to suggest is he asks a neighbour ad leaves instructions on the door.

I am just suprised the buyer did not contact me on Tuesday, as I told him delivery would be on Monday! I will try and arrange delivery for Tuesday, but if he is not in again I will ask him to collect. I have a feeling that if i try and arrange delivery once more I will be charged(according to PPD's rules).

Already given him the tracking number, but he wants me to arrange delivery for him anyway! I normally use SD but this item would have cost £20 to send and would not have been worth it. PPD only charged me £5.99.

I am going to arrange redelivery for him on Tuesday as he has requested, if it is not delivered again, then I will tell him to arrange delivery himself or to collect.

I would be starting to get cross by now!

I can see this turning into:- "the driver tried to deliver......and the seller saying no he didn't" If buyer's are not willing to help a bit I would probably be cutting my losses if the next delivery fails and just refunding the buyer the full amount it will hurt you financially but sometimes it's the better course of action in the long run.

Out of interest is the address somewhere in the middle of nowhere or is it a town address?

Nah the address is in the main town area. I have just sent him an e-mail saying that I have arranged delivery for him but if it fails again its up to him now to get it either by collecting or by arranging with dhl to leave with a neighbour. I have been very helpful to the buyer but I can't determine if he is going to be in for delivery so its up to him now!

yes but it my experience I did honestly wait in for 2 days for this delivery - which they claim they attempted both times. Funny how I was sat in the front room all of 1M from the door pretty much all day. How's that a buyer not willing to help?

    Call me silly here.

But how an earth does the buyer expect you to rearrange delivery when he don't even know himself when he will be in?

As you have given him the tracking number it should now really be down to him to get his act together and sort a date out for it to be dropped of or even picking it up from the depot.

There's only so much you can do to help people.

Get on the phone to the courier company and create a bit of a stink, usually works for me.
