Viewing and trying appliance - best selection?

Hi there - I'm about to buy a range of kitchen appliances (dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave/combi, fridge freezer etc). I have a rough idea of what I want in terms of features etc, but I also want to make sure the "feel" is right too - so I want to physically see and try out the appliances before I commit to buying.
I'm trying to think if there are any shops which will have decent range of appliances in store so that I can do this. John Lewis springs to mind, and there's also currys, but apart from that I'm stuck.
Does anyone have any other bright ideas?

you won't be able to "try" the appliances as none will be connected upI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Try your local kitchen specialist who will very likely have these appliances wired up and will be able to advise and demonstrate them too.
But please do yourself a favour and give them a change to quote for the appliances. They should be competitive. More importantly, try and put some value on the service and advise you will receive. Your local specialist invests time and money to gain the expertise while the faceless warehouse with an 0870 number is probably full of spotty teenagers who dont know the difference between a combi-microwave and a compact multifunction oven with microwave. We’ve had to remove your signature. Not John Lewis as they actually carry a limited range of appliances & you have to select from a brochure with many of the items they offer & then the appliances are delivered direct from the manufacturer. I recently bought my fridge freezer this way & a friend who bought multiple appliances following a kitchen refit found the same thing.
Far better to spend a day looking round independent stores & a trip to Currys in the hope that you can find some appliances that you like the look of then shop around for the best prices. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
