Update: Received a letter today from Nectar offering me an American Express CC with the sign up form included. Did not use to get such offers before. Seems that my credit situation is finally getting into the "green zone" .0

Update: Applied for a FirstDirect 1st Account. I have had an eye on this account for a long time due to their excellent customer service and the regular saver account that pays you 6% interest. Today, a lady called me on my workplace for their last "security" check (to verify that I do work there) and then confirmed that my account was being opened by her.
With all the credit searches I have initiated in the last 6 months (probably 4), I can confirm that the role of the number of searches is grossly exaggerated in this forum. I think that what helped me is having lived here for a full year now and my job and income, as my score is probably not brilliant either.0
