java installs ask toolbar, no browsing required, most of the toolbars on peoples machines are due to installing some software, which presumably the op's mother wants to use.
Oh, I see what you mean.
But, if the browser is sandboxed, then the downloads (e.g. Java) will be inside the sandbox so will be deleted when the sandbox contents are deleted. Or, to install Java outside the sandbox, the files will have to be extracted from the sandbox first (which, hopefully, the OP's mum wouldn't know how to do!)
I think using a sandbox would be ideal... but it's been a while since I used Sandboxie myself, so maybe I've forgotten exactly how it all works...0 -
java installs it's own updater, which doesn't go through a sandboxed browser session, similarly just about everything is starting to bundle toolbars to make money nowadays, the only answer is to not install software blindly, and read the usually optional toolbar installation message and untick
sandboxie is more useful for stopping infections from casual browsing
it works by just dropping everything (files, and registry entries, cookies etc) that changed during the browsing session!!
