Can I check/claim for ppi on a loan from over 10 years ago?
I don't have any paperwork but still bank with the bank in question

    You can put in a complaint, yes. However, the further back you go, the less likely paperwork will exist.

    I am very new to the PPI claim process, but I have just had an offer letter yesterday from HSBC for a loan I took out in 2000 - & I had no paperwork whatsoever, so I would say it is do-able (dependant on who it's with I guess?).

    I no longer bank with them, but rang customer services & gave them my old address & they found the info for me & put the claim straight through to their PPI department whilst I was on the initial phone call.

  • I took out a loan with Barclays and finished paying it off in 2001 I still bank with them, what letter should I use to initiate proceedings because the loan was for £5000 and I ended up paying back almost £8000!! I have no paperwork or statements from that far back, help me pleeease!!!!

    That is not grounds for complaint. Loans can be expensive.

    Send them a SAR and £10 to see what documentation still exists. There's a template on the front page.
    If there is nothing left,your complaint is over.
    If they give you an aco!!!! number and you did pay PPI, fill in the form below. Read through this how to, don't try the £1 method, it doesn't apply in your case because the account is closed.

    Give them as much info as you can for the SAR, past addresses etc.
