On the basis that you cannot yet prove who dropped the ball;
Copy SRA and LO in.
It causes no trouble, and it does not start anything.
But it does show you are aware of your rights, and the processes. It also shall shorten the timeframe for you with regard to recompense.I work in the 'moving industry'. My frame of reference is around 20 years and circa 27,000 domestic moves.0 -
I disagree with the advice given by mgtr. It is premature.
1. You do not yet know who was at fault.
2. Assuming that your own solicitor is at fault once it all comes out in the wash, LeO will not even look at the case until it's gone through the solicitor's complaints procedures.
Focus on what is important at this precise time.0 -
Be nice to know what happened.....0

You have written exactly the advice I gave.
I pointed out he doesn't yet know who dropped the ball, I also pointed out that he/she is supposed to go through the solicitors complaints procedures.I work in the 'moving industry'. My frame of reference is around 20 years and circa 27,000 domestic moves.0 -

No, I did not.
You said to copy the SRA and LeO into the written complaint to the solicitor.
I said do not bother with this because at this stage the solicitor is not known to be at fault, and even if the solicitor is at fault then the complaints process of the solicitor has to be completed before you can involve LeO / SRA.
It is a complete waste of time and money (if posted) to copy in the LeO / SRA at this stage. Hence my comment that that was premature.0 -
Thanks for that.
If ever I work for the lady within the LO's office again that gave me that advice I shall be sure to tell her it is wrong.
I shall also inform the customer, who, last March suffered being homeless for 4 days because of the same situation, and, only once she took the action I listed above did she get proper service - that the advice is wrong.
It costs zilch to copy those organisations in, and start a file, and it lets your solicitor know, without doubt that you are aware of your rights.
Only those in possession of the wierd scardycat reverence of the 'legal profession' would not seek to ensure clarity over their position. And leave no doubt that they will not be dicked around.I work in the 'moving industry'. My frame of reference is around 20 years and circa 27,000 domestic moves.0 -

Might be simpler just to refer to her employer's website then:

shame the OP never came back to reply with what happened.0

I think it's safe to assume everything was sorted out and the OP is now settling into his new home
Otherwise he'd have been back on here going on again about compensation.Early retired - 18th December 2014
