Bay Window and Planning Permission

Hi
Can anyone help with a planning permission query?
After speaking to our local council about replacing a concrete box window which is cracking and moving away from the wall, the council are insisting we need planning permission.
The plan is to brick up a section of the box window and replace it with a shorter bay window.
The neighbours have done the same work so we thought no planning permission was needed.
Is there anything we can do to avoid paying the £172 for the permission?
Thanks

You can do the weork without PP but you are now on their radar, so dont be surprised if you get a visit from the council. £172 is a small price to pay given the consequences. Plus when you come to sell the buyers solicitor will want all kionds of indemnity from you.
So far easier to pay.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
I would have thought this was a Lawful Development (not that I am an expert) and what would be required is a Certificate of Lawful Development. Planning permission probably raises more revenue.
Otherwise, I believe you may need Building Regs approvalYou might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0
