New build - registering address with Royal Mail

New Build - hoping to complete by September end.
Can the developer or I register the address with Royal Mail before completion?
Or is it that I can do it only after completion (when I become the legal owner)? In such case, can the developer do this (on their own or on my behalf) during the time between exchange and completion?
TIA.

I registered mine before completion, but bare in mind it still takes some companies forever to update their systems! Boots.com was over 8 months before I could place an order as it would not recognise my post code! Not even a delivery to store as an option as it didn't recognise my postcode for my debit card!!
We still have some issues almost 5 years later!!!!0 -

Our estate is ten years old and people still have difficulty finding it. Our plot numbers and house numbers didnt match either. My number is 71, but the plot is 75. We had a combination of both for at least the first twelve months, it was actually our housebuilder that was worst for sending us stuff to number 75, fortunately our postie was bright enough to give us all our mail.0 -
My flat is a new build, just over a year old and was allocated a new postcode. The developer had not registered the postcode with the Royal Mail so the minute I knew it I was onto them to get it done. The Royal Mail were very quick updating their own website. The big problem I face is that even though the store you order from might have updated their website with the latest postcode directory so you can order online, if you order something that needs delivered, the satnavs never seem to get updated. I order online from Sainsbury's every 2 weeks and every 2 weeks I have a phone call from a different delivery person saying they have put my postcode into their satnav but nothing has come up so where do I live? Have the same conversation with John Lewis, Dominos, Next, etc0

Our house has been here over 400 years but technology still cannot handle it.
No sat-nav can navigate to it (some clever ones decide it is possible by taking two ferries, neither of which actually run), store locators find our nearest stores in another country, and many websites reject our address altogether because there is no street and street is a mandatory field.
It isn't helped that our postcode is spread over a large area - one end to the other is a 15 minute drive.0 -

Add me as one who finds it frustrating to be in a new postcode. Been here 4 months.
Some places don't recognise the postcode at all - satnavs for one. Barclays couldn't quote me for insurance, which is really strange as they gave me a mortgage to buy the place!
Other places recognise the postcode but only some of the house numbers. DVLA - grrrrr. If I was living in my neighbours house I could change my driving license with no trouble - even though the houses were finished at the same time and my neighbour completed and moved in AFTER me.0 -
Hoping to move in to our new build in September - I thought this would become frustrating with the whole getting things delivered and obtaining quotes.
I don't think your plot number needs to match your house number - my plot is number 20 and house number 8a!0 -
