Need to replace my Netbook

I've loved my Samsung NC10 netbook for over 5 years now and spent hours on it every day. Now though some of the keys stick from time to time and the cursor has a mind of its own so I think I need to send it to PC Heaven. I'm satisfied that I've had more than my money's worth.

So my big dilemma now is do I replace it with a later Samsung model, OR is there a better brand of netbook, OR is there any one gadget that would suit better ? I have no idea what I Pads and chrome will allow me to do.

I need it for: e-mail, internet, simple docs and spreadsheets, photo storage/uploading and simple photo editing. I don't download much - no films, very little music or large docs. No games.

So views please from people who know !

Thank you

Linda xx

Run a Factory Restore and replace the keyboard for around £20 and ten minutes of your time.
Don't waste your money on the latest gadget.

Why a Netbook, as opposed to a laptop? Is portability important?

I wouldn't consider myself an expert, but I used a Samsung netbook (N145+) up until earlier this year, for business.

Earlier this year I was given an iPad. Along with a Bluetooth keyboard, it's replaced my netbook completely because it's faster and does everything I used the netbook for, but is even more portable.

That said, a tablet does take some getting used to before it replaces a Windows computer. You have to find the best way of doing things.

Personally I'm now in the process of selling my netbook as I prefer the iPad. However, as you know you liked your past Samsung there's no harm in getting another. They're good netbooks, they're hardy and they work very well.

    Therein lies the rub.

You can pick up a Netbook for as little as £100 these days.

Indeed. It's the 'ignorance is bliss' thing in my case. I would never, ever have purchased an iPad with my own money, as it's not a necessary purchase.

But, having one has made me fall in love with it. To me, it's much better than my netbook and I couldn't imagine going back to one. Yet, when I used my netbook it was fine. It did the vital jobs, if a little slower than I'd have liked.

If the OP is satisfied with her Samsung netbook, there's not any need to pay out for an iPad.

Other tablets, I know nothing about.
