MBNA email scam?

I received an email today supposedly from MBNA communications centre. Stating I had applied to cancel my online card, and that if I hadn't,to download the attached file/document,to cancel the request.
I dont have any dealings with MBNA,in fact I had never heard of them, yet I had (by the looks of it) received an email,to my email address, with my name on it.
I phoned the company,to find out why they had sent me this, nand how they had got my name and email address. They had no record of me or my email address.
I then spoke to 'ActionFraud' Police, they confirmed it was probably a phising email, possibly with malware, from rogue source. I reported it via ActionFraud site.
So a heads up to everyone, it looks like there is a rogue email from MBNA being sent out with a file attached to download and presumably put your personal details in.
Looks like it's a scam/phising/malware, so beware.

It is a scam, you should never have to download something like that
if something is asking you to download something, or to run an attachment to access/fix your account, its almost definitely a scam0 -

I'm sure many will appreciate the heads up but its no different to getting an email from Mohammad from Nigeria who's mother is I'll and he requires money by western union.
Its just the gullible I'm afraid who makes an issue of such am email.0 -

I've won the Nigerian lottery more times than I can count! All they need are all of my bank details, date of birth, address, full name and my inside trouser leg size to send me the money. What will your verse be?

MBNA will always quote last 4 digits of your card in official e-mails.0
