Address bar search

I used to just type something into my address bar in IE and it went directly to the appropriate site. So if I typed bbc sport it went straight to the BBC sport website.
But now it goes to live search.
I get http://search.live.com/results.aspx?srch=106&FORM=AS6&q=bbc+sport in the address bar, the search pain opens and a popup gets blocked.
How do I get rid of this?

Hi,
have a look in control panel, add/remove, might find it there.0 -
The only likely thing I can see in add/remove is Microsoft Desktop Search 3.01.
Is that what I need to remove?0 -
Hi,
not sure about that, as I don't use it, if you are using Vista, have a look here, if not try start/search.0 -
Probably yes, it most likely asked you if it could change a couple of things when you installed it and you never noticed

Autosearch settings can be adjusted in two ways; via the Customize Button in the Search Pane, or via Internet Explorer's Advanced settings pane. That being said, the Customize button in the Search Pane is the best route to choose when customizing your search engine settings because it is the only place where you are able to change your choice of search engine provider.
We have four Autosearch options to choose from:
• Display results, and go to the most likely site;
• Do not search from the Address Bar;
• Just display the results in the main window;
• Just go to the most likely site.
The safest option, in this brave new world of pop-up windows and browser hijackings, is option number three. Option number three allows you to review search results before going to any of the recommended Web sites.0
