Help to find a solicitor in Cardiff

My elderly mother is buying a sheltered flat in a village just outside Cardiff and has been recommended a solicitor to conduct the purchase and the searches etc. The flat is a small 2 bedroomed one which is under £100K.

The solicitors fees are £895.

Is this reasonable? and can anyone recommend an altrnative solicitor if its not.

I last bought a house 15 years ago, so don't know the current going rate.

Thank you.

(PS I have also posted this on the Housing thread)

  • You could try looking on the Law Society website for solicitors in your area who do such work and asking for quotes - that will give you an idea of what is usual, but personal recommendation will help get you a reliable and effective solicitor so hopefully someone local will come along.
