No mention of "their own freepost label" in your original post... just that you went to the post office.
Does that tracking number show the parcel as delivered on the Royal Mail website?
Sorry not being argumentative, but I said:
"This is nearly a month since I sent it back, on their printed return slip according to their instructions, I have proof of posting and everything."0 -
I suppose not everyone has it with Freepost label... So it wasn't clear to you, but it was clear to me:-)
The situation where you have one thing in your head but no one else can see it..:-)0 -

"This is nearly a month since I sent it back, on their printed return slip according to their instructions, I have proof of posting and everything."Ah, just input that number into royal mail and it says
Delivered
Your item with reference XB.... has been delivered. Delivered On:08-07-2013 Thank you for using this service.
So I suppose I need to go to Royal Mail to give me signature slip or something?
Which means that you can safely ignore the points Bris raised.
I wouldn't bother getting anything further from RM unless Debenhams try to deny they have received it.0 -
Unless you can prove it was delivered they will not refund you. Proof of posting is not enough, it is still your responsibility to make sure the item is back with them even though it is their label, paying a little extra for getting it recorded is one way to do that.
With the proof of posting you have a claim against the Royal Mail, you may want to start the ball rolling on that.
I'm curious about this.. if Debenhams are paying Royal Mail for the return surely the contract is between them.. much the same as if they arranged a collection and the courier lost it?0 -
Good... so you have proof of delivery.

Do you think I should call them again after 8th August if nothing happens and if they refuse, quote the delivery message and that they have 30 days?
Thank you0 -

Yes, keep pushing Debenhams... I'm sure you will get your money eventually.0 -
As you appear not to have cancelled under DSRs, I am not sure that that 30 days I mentioned earlier is pertinent.
Provided that the goods were received back by Debenhams within the 7 working day period and the OP stated on the return form that they wished a refund, this may well be good enough to satisy the DSR requirements.(3) For the purposes of these Regulations, a notice of cancellation is a notice in writing or in another durable medium available and accessible to the supplier (or to the other person to whom it is given) which, however expressed, indicates the intention of the consumer to cancel the contract0 -

But the OP told us:I've never actually cancelled it... just sent it back.0
