Cleaning light switches and sockets

Does anyone have any tips on cleaning light switches and sockets.

Mine seem to have sticky, greasy marks on them, and a wipe with a damp cloth does not do the trick.

I use a damp cloth and cream cleaner such as Cif.

Another vote here for a damp cloth and cream cleaner. We have painted doors, and DH is a plant mechanic, so there are often grubby fingerprints on doors and lightswitches here ( much to my annoyance!), and the cream cleaner does a great job on them.

Anything with a bit of detergent in, don't make it wet!

baby wipes! I often give myself a 'babywipe challenge' - how much can you clean with one in one go?

Or those funny magic sponge things work well too.

Another vote for baby wipes here - I use them for all sorts but do sometimes wonder if they are so good at cleaning so many random things what on earth have they got in them? and are they really good for babies bums!

I do not have any baby wipes so used CIF on a cloth.

I thought it might be too abrasive but it was fine.

That said, I will be buying some babywipes to try too.

Huggies baby wipes are on buy one get two free at Boots and Tesco iirc at the moment (check the grabbit board) If you're lucky your Boots store may still have some of the £1.39 packs in, sadly ours doesn't. Otherwise I use the basic ones for cleaning etc.

Alcohol hand gel...cleans loads of things and dries straight away...good for greasy grubby finger marks.

A damp scouring sponge with a touch of cream cleanser.

Barely damp, don't get water into the switch.

If you have grunge around the switch itself or gunked into the screwheads, use a wooden cocktail stick to poke it out.
