Agree with the Humax HDR fox t2 recommendations, stick the custom firmware on there and you can transfer you recording to your pc, great bit of kit0

Humax Fox T2 all the way!!!! Easy to use, reliable, and lots of info out there on the net.
I had a Sharp PVR that gave up the ghost after a year (though I read it was a rebranded Vestel machine. Piece of carp anyway). Also a Topfield that had very buggy software on it...believe me, I tried to keep on top of it, many hours searching and posting on forums.
I have their very first PVR too, (the Humax PVR8000T, with a humble 40GB drive) and it still works! Must be 6+ years old now.0 -

I agree too. Up to a point.
It is a great easy to use PVR.
With custom firmware it is great for techies too. You can arrange to decrypt HD recordings overnight (for playback on any media device) and make the drive appear on your PC as a network disk. Also, a neat web interface to control recording schedule, view EPG etc from your PC; it even sends me an email if it fails to record a show.
You can even capture the last viewed iplayer programme onto the PC without any digital rights management.
However, it does not integrate the catchup TV into the interface, and only the iplayer is available. So in those respects it is far more limited than their Youview machine DTR-T1010, but AFAIK no-one has opened up that one's firmware yet.
So, Humax DTR-T1010 might be the better choice. It depends on what you want really.0 -
You don't need to install custom firmware to copy stuff to PC. The custom firmware just makes it easier.
And yes, not a huge range of catchup options. If you have a network enabled TV that's probably a better option. My Samsung has iplayer, ITVplayer, 4OD, 5 player.0 -
I have a Humax (it's great). However, it is designed only to allow you to copy recordings to another Humax. Some of the independent techies have created software which you can install to enable you to save the recordings to a different format, but this technically risks invalidating the guarantee.0

No it isn't. You don't need to install custom firmware to copy recordings to PC.0

had more PVR's than you can shake a stick at
NO brand and Bush - not get
Pana all in with DVD/ HD- ( cheap at the time - end of stock) good but broke after a month- and Tesco refunded as none in stock.
Fetch - good to export, but now lack of support / iplayer no longer working
BT Vision ( black box- but not the youview version) Ok , but does play up from time to time. Demand works well,m although wishing I hadn't bothered upgrading to get essentials extra
Youview (humax) - seems great, can't see how to export easily. ALso has Nowtv app- but I only paid £80.Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0
