Cheap Studio Flats in London

Does anybody know of any good agencies or websites for finding cheap studios in London?
I'm trying Zoopla, Right Move and Gumtree, but half of them seem like scams or like they're not longer available (especially on gumtree!)
A lot of flats available on these sites are from "london studio centre" which just looks like a scam, and "interlet international" which looks a bit more reputable, but seems from reviews I've read to:
a) charge a fee before they help you find a property, which must breach the Accommodation Agencies Act 1953
b) only advertise properties which are no longer available to rope you in.
From all this it just seems impossible to find a reliable trustworthy way to find a small and cheap studio flat in London!

On Moneybox Radio 4, last Saturday they were talking about the unfair, even illegal fees that some agents try and charge. Try and see if there's anything on the Paul Lewis website.
An MPs' report has exposed the hidden and unreasonable fees being charged to tenants and landlords by some letting agents. The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors has described the lettings sector, which is unregulated, as "the property industry's wild west." We'll be asking what constitutes a fair price for services, and finding out how you can challenge an agent if you think you've been overcharged.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
