Hanging Dartboard

I've made a backboard for my dartboard using:
1/2" thick 4' x 4' Mdf
Cork Tiles
Green felt
I've been wondering what's the best way to secure this to my plasterboard bedroom wall.
I've heard Mdf is difficult to screw through without it splitting.
Should I just screw the Mdf straight into my wall in 4 corners. Or do you think I should put a bracket on the back of backboard.
I'm sure there are plenty other darters out there who have done similar.

I would use plasterboard fixings , example below. You would of course need to drill your mdf and the plasterboard.Forgotten but not gone.0

Thanks..
The board is fairly heavy so i'll probably have to go into the brick to secure it properly.0 -
Woody , those fixings are for hollow plasterboard "studded " walls. If you have brick walls then drill and plug with this type of fixingForgotten but not gone.0

In that case use rwal plugs.
Have you asked permission from your mom?0 -
MDF won't split when drilling or screwing into.
If I were you I would use 4 frame fixers. 1 in each corner, say 65/75mm x 6mm.
In case you don't know these are a long "rawlplug" with it's own screw. Normally you would drill through whatever you were fastening and knock the frame fixer through the lot, but not in this case.
They are ideal when like this you want a long rawl plug to pass through a void behind plaster board into block or brick. Mark the position and insert flush with the plaster, NOT through the board. (You are likely to want to remove it.)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
