    That would be a lot for benefits but might be inappropriarely small for bankruptcy - depends how much.

    Still on the low side, I believe. Have you had bankruptcy suggested to you by one of the debt advisory service?

    No. We suggested it and they suggested iva but she has no assets. The national debt line suggest bankruptcy. I've since learnt private companies get paid a lot more if they organise an iva
    A company called bankruptcy advice advised of iva

    I'd post about this on the Bankruptcy Board, there are lots of people there who can advise you on this aspect of your debt.

    It would depend on how the local authority treat it. I somehow can see them fighting tooth and nail to exclude it from any bankruptcy order.
    These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.
