Hi,
I am looking to buy my son a laptop for his birthday. From reading other threads on here i think i need an i3 with at least 4Gb and 500MB. Is it possible to get one for less than £300 and if so which is the best deal and where is the best place to buy from. I would like it to be reliable and last him a few years!
Thank you

Thank you, that looks good. Are there any retailers to avoid in case there are problems?0

I'm about to take the plunge with this for my 15yo. going to sleep on it and then decide. But it has 4GB RAM and 500 HDD whereas Tesco etc have only 2GB RAM and 320 HDD.

Yep, I've got one and so has my daughter, not a computer expert but they seem to do what we need them to do.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

Not amazing value, but it has the i3 processor and upgraded graphics that may be important to a teenager.0 -
Thanks all. So much to think about! I need to make a decision though as I need to order in the next couple of days.0

HereToday that seems rather tidy (6GB is great). Whats the HD6000 graphics like though, up to snuff for a gamer and video watcher?? rather hard to pick graphics cards i find, whereas something like a raedon keeps the progression rather obvious0
