Vent or no vent

Options
We're buying a house in need of some modernisation and need some advice. In the lounge/dining room, there are two chimney breasts with 2 hideous fires. We want to change the one in the lounge but get rid of the one on the dining area. Do we have to put a vent in that chimney breast?

You don't have to but I would advise it.

This will make sure the chimney is properly vented and keep damp to a minimum
