    I had this problem with a neighbour's laptop who had received TT's latest router last week. IPad, phone and another laptop were fine but this particular computer could not detect the router.

    I'm reasonably computer savvy, that's why they consulted me, but I was stumped

    In the end, I tried the obvious, simple solution -I used the installation CD provided with the router and it connected with no trouble.

    Using the disc instead of trying to do it the hard way would have saved hours of frustration.

    you may not know, but talktalk have an excellent forum. When you post there, be patient and wait for an OCE to reply as they have the knowledge and facility to introduce some changes. Others might reply and know what they're talking about, but it's the OCE who action anything.

    Having said that, today the forum is changing, and has been on "read only" mode for 24 hrs, so maybe there will be slight delays.

    There is also a Talktalk rep somewhere on MSE and a TT thread somewhere.

    in the trouble shoot detailed report;
    none of the networks you have previously connected to are in range.
    list of preferred networks
    profile;=the network/router name I want it to find
    ssid =ditto
    ssid=11
    connection=infra
    security=yes
    set by group policy=no
    connect even if network not broadcasting=no
    reason=0x00028002

    I have in cmd prompt ipconfig that = all media disconnected,ethernet adapter does say dlink??
