Did it get harder to keep our children safe?

  • Indirect contact has been edited by SS so far and still has caused trouble.

Esp in December when there were letters and presents that should have arrived three times that month, but turned up at the end of January. SS involvement is coming to an end.

I think this is the time to go to court with the new disclosure and once and for all make sure all the children feel safe again.
I never realized how much personal info is out there that can be used and abused to suit every purpose.

    Hi

It sounds like some of the children need help coping with the PTSD?

And at some point someone authoriative outside the family has to explain to the children who do not have problems what PTSD is and a bit about the background.

So far I managed to get a referral for only two of the children, but that was three years of hard battle in court, a total family breakdown and seven social workers later.

My social worker now is fresh out of uni and does only things if she has been prompted and prompted and prompted. I can't work out if it is her age or lack of knowledge that is preventing her from being sensible about what PTSD can do to a family.

  • Sorry, should not say that it is her age. It might just be lack of experience.

Have you been to the GP who is more likely to have a budget for treating mental health issues??
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • Hi RAS, Sorry for the delay in answering you. Just had another 'contact date' and it always sends the whole family in a spin.

So far I have been lucky enough to have some help from CAHMS after a referal from the GP, the paediatrician and the social worker, but their budgets are slashed and their waiting lists are very long. To get the children any help they need to be a danger to theirselves or others and even then it is hard to get help.

I have spoken to the social worker who shares my concerns, but seems not able to do more than just have a talk with the children. Nevertheless I have asked her to write something down that could be helpfull,so we won't be in court for another 6 months on top of the three years we have spend so far.

I have spoken to victim support and there is no alternative funding as far as they know for applying for a variation of the contact order even after new facts have come to light.

There was a suggestion from SS and the solicitor to just not accept the presents and letters, but that would mean putting the ball in the ex's court and waiting for him to take it further, but leaving the order in place and making me the non compliant party. As a family we really need closure and time to heal.

Might you be able to get some support - albeit slight - from Womens' Aid?

    Just a thought!
  • Just received the quote from the solicitor. It is going to take £7000? I am sure I didn't read that right. It has been awhile since I saw that kind of money together.

Now where did I put that winning lottery ticket?
