HI All,
Mobile phone contract is up for renewal and my current handset needs replacing - need a little Advice please as to how I can get the best deal/handset and maintain the contract Tariff im on (don't mind if it means changing network provider).....
Im currently with Vodafone - ive had the iphone 4 for about 3 years now and of alate been having troubles with the handset (basically its a touch screen phone but in quite a few areas on the screen when you touch it its none responsive - quite a pain when texting as various letters wont work!! Also the handset is very slow at loading from app to app).
However im very happy with the tariff - i pay just £10.25 and get 600 uk mins, unlimited texts and 500mb internet - and i rarely go over the £10.25.
I went instore today (to raise issue regarding the phone and to try and bag a new one) and was told by Vodafone that it would cost me £150 to have the new iphone 5 and stay on my current plan - or i could pay £42 a month and get the phone free.
Are there any better deals out there????

Id call vodafone ( asked to be put through to retentions whop can offer better deals than others depts ) and see what they offer, explain your happy with the tariff and want to stay (might not work but no harm in asking). Does it have to be an iphone 5 ?0

The iPhone 5 has been available since last year, maybe apple products hold the value well.
If you dont get anywhere with Voda you just might have to look at other phones eg Android based phones.0 -
Have a look at the Samsung Galaxy phones - the older models (well, a couple of years tops) are cheaper now and still absolutely brilliant devices.
Contracts - £42/month for 500MB data is an insult (you'll use that much in your first week downloading apps and updating email!). Three do unlimited data (as in upto 1TB/month - you'll never hit the cap) for £34/month with 5000 mins/texts, or an extra £2 and you can tether (which means you can cancel your home broadband and run your PC through your phone). Go to one of the independent multiples like CPW or P4U and just see what they can offer you.0 -
Ok - ive rang Vodafone customer servs and they said im actually now on a sim only deal (which i didnt know).
Would it be more cost effective to just go out and buy a handset and stay on the price plan/ sim only deal that im on?
The thing is there is so many phones out there is difficult to know what to buy!!0
