Looking for a suitable vehicle

I have undergone a partial ankle fusion on my left ankle, and wanted to look for a manual vehicle for the family, that is not too big. I have been able to drive a manual van, but not a Corsa. Basically I need a 4-5 doors vehicle with a reasonably sitting up driving position, possibly diesel and with a low Vehicle tax rate (band A-C).
Does anyone have any advice?
Someone already suggested a Vauxhall Meriva.

Would an automatic not be a better option?

I have to agree. If there is any weakness in the left ankle, then it would be better to have a vehicle where the right foot does all the work.

Perhaps OP had an auto and used to use their left foot on the brake?

Let's face it, there must be people that do.......

    Yes my mrs.

    It's very F1.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

I already own an automatic. This would be a car for my wife. And I would occasionally drive it for the family. I am also an Approved Driving Instructor, and I teach in the Automatic. Having looked at DSA stats, only 5% of driving tests in the UK are for automatic cars, so I would increase the size of my fleet by adding a manual vehicle. I have driven a diesel van, without problems. The high sitting up position allowed me to use my whole leg for the clutch, and it was not as uncomfortable as the standard car.
