Faulty dye on shirt

I bought a t-shirt in a sale last week (£22 down to £8). It fitted well so I threw the receipt away. However, now it's been washed, the red dye around the neck has run badly into the white fabric.

This has never happened with any other garment. It looks terrible. Is there anything I can do?

If you have no proof of purchase, i.e. you paid cash, then the shop have every right to do nothing for you.

Why don't you take the thing back to the shop and ask them nicely if they can help you?
