no point to make any further complaints, i have lost a few hours of my time and 10£ on my phone, nobody of 5 persons i have spoked to starting from store manager to currys knowhow mangers did no help me with my quaries regarding unfair refusing of paying refund for bought item.
JUST AVOID THIS COMPANY CURRYS /PC WORLD , they do not care if you satisfied or not with you item, and what is the problem.

BEFORE YOU HAVE PAID YOU ARE VALUABLE FRIEND , AFTER YOU HAVE PAID YOU ARE REWORKED USELESS RUBBISH FOR THEM.

If you need to purchase something on credit, as you cannot afford to pay upfront, then it surely makes more sense to just go for a normal credit agreement?

You pay them x a month and after x time, the item is paid for, and it's yours.

    Why rent an IPad?

    Lin ;)
You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)

With sensible hat on then renting a devaluating item can make sense dependent on the rent charged, the needs or wants of the individual and whether the sum to buy is available and what the individual could do with those monies.

Of course that view wouldn't be appreciated by those signing up to such agreements as these, they bought soemthing shiny, didn't read a contract and now feel cheated by being charged handsomely for that flexibility and availability, even though that information was fully available when they signed up.

I would like help with my problem with Rentsmart. I bought a ipad at Currys 2 years ago and was told that after the two years the ipad would be mine or I could upgrade. Now I am being told by Rentsmart that I must either return the ipad or upgrade. No other option is available. So this means I have paid over £600 for the ipad, only to give it back! They are coming to pick it up on Wednesday. I am furious. I told the person on the phone that it was ridiculous that they would take back a used ipad rather than let me keep it. I even offered to pay another 3 months on it but they said if I wanted it I would have to pay for another year!!! That means the ipad would cost £900 altogether. Surely they cannot get away with this. What if I just refuse to give it back? Could I get away with that? Could they carry on taking money from my bank even if I cancel the direct debit? Would be grateful for any help on this matter.

This has happened to me ,only with 2 iPads ( one for me and one for hubby ) I feel really conned ,another option was given to me the other day which was pay another 3 months and I can keep it ,I've already paid £1400 for 2 iPads .i will never get anything again from currys and will let as many people as I can know about this .been back in store about it and they said I was told conditions to which I replied if the person who sold me this had said to me you do know after 2year contract you have to send it back I'm sure you could guess my reply I'm not the cleverest of people but I'm certainly not daft enough to have accepted that .feel like smashing them and then sending them back .please any advice ,also when mentioned this site was reassured ,there was no complaints from there shop ,well let me tell you this ,there is now ,it's Curry,s snipe retail park Ashton under lyne x
  • Hi,

I have also just experienced the same thing. PC world assistant advised me that after 2 years of paying for my ipad it would be mine OR I could opt to upgrade if there was a new ipad released, at no point was I told I would have to return the ipad at the end of the 2 years.

I have since been on the phone to rentsmart saying I feel I have been 'miss-sold' the product, they have offered me the option of paying an additional 3 months and the ipad would be mine at the end of it. I am not happy with this. Surely if this is happening to more people than just me PC world need to take action and train their sales assistants better.

All I have been told is that I signed the agreement and it's there, however I do not read that well and under the advice of the sales assistant I signed up to this!

Has anyone else had this problem and got it solved?

I think the clue is in the name ''Rentsmart'. You never have title, you are simply leasing it, as the contract terms will reveal.
Their sales assistants are trained very well; they're not there to help you, they're there to make a sale and earn commission.
If you don't read too well, take the (unsigned) contract away and examine it at your leisure-the offer will still be there tomorrow.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
