Big pet hate is when tradesmen plug their phone chargers in and radios.

We all agree they need access to electricity for tools, but charging up phones is basically stealing. We are not allowed to charge phones up at work either.

Taking a very rough set of figures.
Mobile phone chargers generally have an output of around 5V and a maximum current of 1A, but to allow for errors and efficiency wastage (such as heat), I'll double this.
This means that the charger will be using about 10 Watts of power if charging a totally flat phone battery.
Assuming the electricity cost to be 20p per kilowatt hour (again, I've gone on the high side for this), this means that the tradesman's phone charger will be using about 0.08kwh of electricity, or to put it another way, if they leave it plugged in for 8 hours, they will be "stealing" 1.6p worth of electricity. (and remember, I have over estimated the actual costs involved).
In reality, as the output of the charger drops as the battery gets charged, the actual figure will be even less than this.

Unless you yourself are willing to work somewhere without heating then why should tradesmen? You do realise the heat from the radiators from other rooms would travel to where they were. Odd that you complain about both heating and a dehumidifier, without these your house would have a condensation problem and so could develop mould problem, would you have blamed the builders for that as well?

You opened up an old thread to say that!

you could always add 50p to their bill to cover those costs, assuming they are there for a couple of weeks
