Sainsburys Basics advice

Hi everyone
I have always used Tesco delivery and once Ocado when they sent me a voucher that was too good to refuse! Sainsburys are offering £15 off your first shop so I'm thinking of taking them up on it.
I've had a browse and found a few basics products which seem great value.
Can anyone point out any greats ones or any to avoid? From the wider sainsburys range too if you've spotted a gem!
Thanks everyone

The basics tea bags are very good and come highly recommended by others on the boards, they'll only be good mind you if you drink tea?Lloyds loan £7045.16/£0.00 Lloyds CC £896.99/£649.25, barclaycard £2792.20/£4582.93, OD £1500, Next £210.43/£734.21, OD £300, Virgin CC £3135/£1108.53, Starting total,£15829.78, running total, £8874.92 paid off to date, £2303/6811.76/6654.86

It's subjective...one persons great item is another persons worst item ever. You just need to buy them all and try them yourself and if you like them then buy them again. I don't like the basics toilet cleaner...it's no more effective at cleaning the toilet than just using water. I don't like the white bread. There's a thread here somewhere with a list...:footie:

I use their toilet duck (loo cleaner) for when guests come, 30p, loo blocks 30p, scourers 20p ish..
We also love to eat the Jaffa Cakes, biscuits and lemonade all nice snacks. Also the basics pasta - 39p ish, is not too bad.Wishing you all good luck!

Thank you for the replies so far
Tea is actually the only thing I spend out on and it has to be Twinings
Jaffa cakes were def on my list as a treat, sure the bf will be happy to hear they're ok! Have tried many of the tesco equivalents e.g. The pine toilet cleaner which I too found to be ineffective so now stick with bleach. Have used the little blocks before so they sound good!0 -

The slightly better quality Sainsburys branded Jaffa Cakes are the same price per cake as basics at the moment at £1.26 for 36 cakes.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)

I really like the Basics tins of tuna chunks. It's 'Pole & Line' which means it's individually caught, responsibly sourced & seems good quality.
Basics pitta breads, olives, Pancakes, fruit & veg, pepperoni slices, Houmous, Italian hard cheese, tinned tomatoes, baked beans, Mushy peas, kidney beans, Tortilla chips, Cinema sweet popcorn, Kitchen roll, sponge scourers - all spot on.
The basics pizzas aren't so great, very little cheese on them, but i suppose you could grate some extra on yourself!
Big fan of the basics range - as you can probably tell! :T0 -
I never buy anything of supermarket value lines with meat in them. Cleaning products are a no-no either.
Can't go wrong with tinned toms and kidney beans0 -
If you need cheese they currently have Lye Cross Farm grated Mature Cheddar at £1 for a 200g bag = £5 kg, better price than most basic/value "white" cheeses.0

All the fruit and veg is fine except for the tomatoes, though loose bananas turn out to be better value than the basics banana pack. Hand soap is great and is exactly the same as the shower gel which they sell for 30p for 200ml less. Apple sauce is lovely. The peanut butter and strawberry jam are ok, the jam is less sugary than the regular range one. Don't get the mixed fruit one though it is tooooo sweet. Houmous is ok too, has a bit of cornflour added but you really can't tell. Both types of 'soya drink' are perfectly acceptable and before I was vegan I used to get the UHT skimmed milk and that tasted like semi skimmed but cost considerably less. The Apple pie is yummy but it's not ready to eat you have to bake it. Noodles and packet pasta in sauce mix are ok. Pasta shapes are fine not sure about spaghetti. Cereals are fine especially if livened up with some fruit or yoghurt. Chopped tomatoes are very good, some cheap ones are really sour but not these ones. Pitta breads are fantastic, a bit small but the pocket opens in each one and they contain no additives at all. Frozen mixed veg is fine as are the chips (which can be fried, oven baked or grilled). Baby wipes and nappies are very good too, my youngest would get a rash off any normal range nappies and even sensitive baby wipes but is fine with these. The tortilla chips and salsa are a lovely treat and the salsa is very similar to the Doritos one I used to pay a fortune for. Xx
P.S forgot to mention the sparkling water, tastes as good as any top branded sparkling water and according to the packaging is not tap water; and the kidney beans which are meant to be in pieces hence them being so cheap but all the ones I have bought have been whole and really tasty.0 -
Oh and though not food and not sold online the basics men's socks are excellent, they used to be 3 pairs for £1 though I am sure they are quite a bit more now. They last for years and don't fade xx0
