If I take my occupational pension do I have to tell the DWP if I am only getting ESA through being unable to work.
I know they would need to know for the old IS payments but if I was no longer getting that do they need to know.

You need to tell them if you are receiving any means tested benefits. Is your esa cont based or income based?Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

Yes you do. Otherwise things could go wrong - you are on income related ESA as you were on Income support - so it needs declaring. I assume you wish to take it early?0

If I pay my mortgage off with a gift do I need to report it?
I do not have a pension at all is it better to start with a little.
If I do either I will not have any money at all.SPC £500 well will try very hard.
GC £6.16/£1500 -

Report everything as they will eventually find out. These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0 -
The reason I am asking is because I have just re applied for DLA, and am concerned that if I don't get it I will be left with only my ESA, on which I cannot manage.
I am only 58 so my option would be to take my pension to make up my loss. I will get a lump sum, which I will need to buy a car as I get a motorbility vehicle at the moment, plus I have debts that will need to be cleared with the lump sum.
Just a bit of advance thinking really.0 -

If your OP is >£85 a week then half of any excess will be deducted from your CB ESA e.g if your OP is £100 a week the deduction is (£100-£85)/2 = £7.50.
AKAIK all OP pension amounts are deducted from IB ESA.
Also IB ESA is being incorporated into UC but not CB ESA.0 -

Sorry but this is wrong you are linking two disparate things, the benefit cap and Universal Credit. UC replaces a wide range of means tested benefits including ESA(IR), assuming it is ever implemented across the country which is looking increasingly unlikely it will inherently limit the amount of money that a claimant can receive.
UC covers both the WRAG and SG in regard to ESA(IR).0 -
One more question, would any lump sum be affected, would I be allowed to buy a car and clear out standing debts to ensure that I can manage on the balance, I don't want to be accused out deliberately spending money to avoid sanctions.0
