A Shader Greener Solar Panels & Survey

Options
Hi

I've read all I can on A Shade Greener and solar panel threads and I am wondering if anyone can give me some more up to date experience or questions I should ask when their surveyor comes out in a fortnight. I live in a bungalow, have no plans to move, don't want, nor can afford to pay for them up front and the idea of someone else maintaining and installing them appeals and in my view any saving would be welcome and I work flexi hours so am around in the day sometimes. Can anyone give me any pointers of questions I should ask. I have quite a list myself, although their website seems to be very informative . . . :D

Thanks

Rachelh

not a direct answer to your question .... just to say we've had them since may last year, and have been more than pleased, their customer service has been great. we had a fault with them ( they informed us our readings weren't as they should be) and they came out sorted it, no fuss.

I've recommended them to friends and received our first refer a friend cheque last week.

i too, had lots of questions and asked all of them . . . but shamefully can't remember them now, I think they were connected to should we move and any effect on the mortgage.

Not sure whether or not ashadegreener let you keep the export tariff? I have a feeling that I have seen somewhere that one of the rent-a-roof schemes does this, so may be a bargaining point?

How is the roof structure and condition considered in their survey procedure? I would hope that a thorough survey of the loft and roof would take place to ensure it is up to the stress of carrying the panels for 20+ years. It may be worth getting a 2nd opinion from a someone independent.

Will your roof be crammed to the edges with panels? What are the guidelines about how close to the roof edge you can go? Check with someone like the REA perhaps?
  • The lady on the phone said that they would need access to the loft so I will certainly ask. Sounds good so far.

If you have a door beneath where the panels will go ask for a snow guard, as panels have a lower friction coefficient than tiles so the lot would come down all at once.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
