What will a sanction on a join claim affect?
Currently claiming JSA/HB/CTC

    AFAIK only the person who has been sanctioned.

    Dear op,

    Since you have been sanctioned, this will affect you're housing benefit so make sure you go to your council and tell them the situation as if you don't DWP will only tell them anyway.

    What usually happens is a letter will arrive from the local authority stating that your Housing Benefit has been suspended. You will then need to visit one of their offices as speedily as possible to inform them of a change of circumstances in that your income has decreased. They'll want to see some ID and your last three or six months worth of bank statements as evidence of having savings below the £6K threshold. Doing that will reinstate HB (and Council Tax Benefit) straight away.
