Travel maps app + GPS

Hello there,

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good smartphone app for taking abroad - heard of ones where you can download and store maps of specific areas which you can use offline (avoiding high data charges abroad) and preferably ones that use the phones GPS as well.

Found some on the App Store but wondered if anyone had used such a thing themselves and could recommend - Free apps would be best - money saving and all.

It is, I use it in UK for car sat nav, thanks for suggestion. Only problem is because we're going to so many places on cruise it would take up a huge amount of space, doesnt have a map for everywhere we're going either. also be a bit unwieldy for general use as it'll be for walking rather than in-car.

Really need one like Google maps but where you can pre-download several maps in advance for offline use.
