Can anyone on here recommend anywhere that I can get good practical advice from concerning my benefits rights besides the CAB (always busy and virtually impossible to get hold of)

What area do you live in? I'm not sure about other authorities but Manchester have a welfare advice telephone line and advice centre at the town hall. You could try the website for your local authority.
