Solicitors

Options
Hi

Just wondered, when do solicitors contact you after you have paid them £200 for the searches. I seem to always end up with speaking to the assistant when I ring up. The reason being is its a quick completion set by the seller and I've told them this but I always get like an ok (like they have heard me but not paying attention to it) i went with these because they are well known in my town and they were suprisngly cheaper.

Should I be ringin them up in a few days?

Sorry new to all this, thanks in advance.

It's unrealistic to expect them to have completed searches only a few days after receiving your funds (if I've understood your post right; if I haven't, please indicate when you did instruct the solicitor and pay the £200).

If you haven't spoken to them for over a week, I'd be minded to contact them tomorrow - don't try to speak to them on a Friday as it's the busiest day of the week and they will be focusing on the matters which are actually completing that day.

How is your mortgage offer progressing? Survey?

Ask your solicitor if they've received any documents from the seller's solicitor yet (draft contract, property info form, fixtures & fittings form).

All of these things work in tandem.

Rather than asking if things have been done, ask when they will be done.
That way you know how long to leave them for.

Cheap and quick - its not a common mix, its usually one or the other.

I agree - ask what the time-scale is and then follow up if necessary. Also - don't worry if it is the assistant not the actual solicitior who calls or who you speak to - they are likely to be familiar with your file so this would only be an issue if you can't get the information you're asking for.

every body knows its the secretary that does all the work ,

your solicitor is more likely to be on the golf course than in the office,
