CC for building credit history for mortgage

I'm trying to build my fairly non existent credit history for a mortgage. I have a couple of previous phone contracts on it, which are all paid on time and that's about it really. On the other hand I don't have anything negative on it either.
So I'm basically after a simple card to pay off at the end of each month for everyday purchases. I won't be doing anything else with it, the sole purpose is just to build decent credit history, so when it comes to applying for a mortgage I'm golden.
Does anyone have any recommendations on what CC's to look at? I would be most grateful

If you've not had a CC before but do have some credit history I would suggest you first try for the Capital One Progress card.
If unsuccessful, try for a Vanquis card.
Whichever card you end up with, ensure to pay it off in full each month and keep the balance very small, but do use it.
Maybe just put one of the grocery shops on it each month.
Good luck!

Try the Nationwide Save to Buy scheme , or a similar one offered by the Halifax to save for a deposit. This will boost your rating considerably.0

Such a scheme will make no difference to your credit rating, certainly not your credit rating outside that lender.
All those save to buy schemes do is increase the max LTV the lender is willing to offer, the underwriters still need to see a proven credit history.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
