Summer vs winter diesel: different energy density?

In January my grand Scenic 1.9 DCi was doing 475 miles to a tank. From May it has been doing 525 and for the last couple of hot weeks 550. Same trip, every day, day in day out.....

It will burn more efficiently in winter (well at least cold months) as well due to the colder more dense air. Not sure how much of a difference it actually makes over and above the intercooler mind you.0

Thanks for all the replies. There is no doubt that fuel econonmy is reduced in winter due to many factors relating to the weather. What I was trying to nail down is whether there is an impact specifically due to changes in the fuel. This, as I suspected, is proving tough!0
