Nationwide / Trusteer

Has anyone else noticed that unless you agree to download Trusteer from Nationwides website - you are blocked from logging in to your on-line account ?
This is how it appears for me anyway .....

I've just logged in successfully, having said 'No thanks' to their kind offer re Trusteer :)

I actually had Trusteer until a few months ago but uninstalled it as it was clogging up my ancient PC to the extent that I was reminded of my early days with AOL dial up speeds

OK Missed the "No Thanks" button

I am assuming that Nationwide are going to start pushing all customers into installing the program now ?
I will never use Trusteer again after installing it a few years ago and finding that I could not uninstall the package
I hate being told how to secure my PC's - especially by a bunch of bankers !!

All the banks are pushing the programme. I have had to remove it from my computer, as it was causing all sorts of problems on start up. it conflicts with the software I have installed for my antivirus, annti spyware and malware. it took nearly a day to clean the computer and get it functioning properly again. on start up every morning it woul be busy sending what it was back to Trusteer. Trend was giving me reports of what information it was gathering and transmitting and I am no longer prepared to let my computer habits and my shopping info go anywhere without my persmission. Another thing I have noticed, i am getting less spam emails since getting rid of it. Nothing is free and I feel the same way about Rapport. I pay for a very good firewall. i also make sure all the cookies the bank oputs on my computer when I do on-line banking, are cleaned off immediately after the session. it's a bit of pain, but as I no longer trust banks, they are not getting any personal data from me other than what I allow them to have.

    Paranoid??? You bettcha...

Banks would be better updating the reliability of their own systems than pushing Rapport to customers.

It's a good security package. Checks passwords you are inputting to ensure you don't give away the wrong one to the wrong site ;)

I've had it for years now - since HSBC started strongly advising to use it.

As stated by badger09 it can be uninstalled if you decide to do away with such security.
Note: If Trusteer Rapport was installed from an Windows Administrator account, you can only uninstall Trusteer Rapport if you are logged into an Administrator account.
Note: In case of difficulty uninstalling Trusteer Rapport, see http://www.trusteer.com/book/uninstalling-rapport-using-safeuninstall-utility for information about uninstalling Trusteer Rapport using the safe uninstall utility.

As above, the app is to ensure your PC hasn't been compromised and you're not just handing out your details to an unscrupulous site. It has nothing to do with their own reliability.
