To hold or not hold...where to put the trunki

I can't decide!! I bought a trunki on ebay so my little one can have his own bag on holiday (that's the idea anyway). I'm flying on my own with him so am now torn between taking the trunki on as his hand luggage (the plan being he could ride it and put books, toys, comfort things etc in it) or checking it in.
We're only taking one big check in bag at the moment, I'll have a handbag as well. I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth the hassle of taking it on, or just take a supersize handbag and I have it as my hand luggage instead and we check the trunki in. I can see myself trying to drag him round the airport, or hold his hand, plus do everything else...or just end up carrying it.
Dunno what to do so seeing what others would do! It's BA flight so we both have checked baggage allowance and hand baggage each.

If you're flying on your own with him the best place to leave the Trunki is at home.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

I know but I bought it for the trip (before my other half got a free carry on wheelie which would have been perfect, but by then I'd bought the trunki home and presented it to the child as gift).peachyprice wrote: »If you're flying on your own with him the best place to leave the Trunki is at home.
I was planning on making it useful and putting most of his clothes in there as we will need the extra space (I'm taking most of my husbands packing as well in the big bag - he's travelling separately).
I think I'll just check it in - who knows, the child might enjoy standing by the carousel looking out for it at the other end!! (if it turns up...)DFW challenge Debt-free by Dec 2016

Definitely check it in then and give him a little back pack he can carry himself to take on the plane as hand luggage for his bits and bobs.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

I agree with the above, my daughter has always had her own small case plus a back pack with books and crayons etc in it to take on board. Problem is now she's 10 she needs a bigger case than we do
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0
