6 months in Singapore

I am going to be spending 6 months in Singapore and would like to know the best way to obtain money from my UK bank account while there. Is there a prepaid Singapore Dollar card option?
as if I take a prepaid card in another currency it seems I would have to pay a fee for each amount of SGD I took out.

Thanks

How about opening an account with HSBC? They are usually easy to deal with in different countries

Even if you could get a prepaid card in SGD, I wouldn't recommend it. When you load money onto the card you'll get a sub-optimal exchange rate - that's where they make their money. Likewise, I wouldn't recommend EUR prepaid cards to people travelling in Europe or USD prepaid cards to people travelling to the US.

Can you get to the London area? If so, open a Metro Bank current account - the debit card won't charge any fees when used abroad.

The Halifax Clarity credit card is another excellent option - ideally take both.

If you must use a prepaid card, take one in GBP - at least you won't pay to load money onto it. The Kalixa card is a good option - the only fees are for using ATMs (no exchange rate loading).

And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

Opening an account with the Metro bank might be a good option.

Always take backup cards... even if they charge to use.
