This is why, no matter what, this is a serious risk, as if you cant get out and a fire occurs then it can be assessed as life threatening?
Suppose you had something on the cooker and it was left for 3 hrs :(

Because of the risk the HA should have treated this as an Emergency whilst you were stuck in the room, I doubt they will now your out!!!

It would not be imprudent in this situation to call the Fire Service ;)

    Crickey, Ted and me agree:D:D:D

Part of the Furniture 10,000 Posts Name Dropper Photogenic
I had this last week at my work place (small residential home.) Me, only other member of staff and resident all trapped in residents bedroom, with no phone and no means of calling for help at 10 o'clock at night. Other residents non-verbal and not able to summon help for us. Oddly enough we did have a tool box as we were fixing something else, which was no help at all as the lock had jammed, as well as the door handle.
Luckily I am a very thin person and managed to shinny out of the window despite the window restrictors. Otherwise it would have been a very long night with the 3 of us in one bedroom waiting for the morning shift to arrive.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

That was good luck, being able to get out of the window.

Given no phone I would have had no reservation in smashing out the window, as you said you had the tools.

Collateral damage can be thought about later,;)
