Colchester New builds

Options
Anybody bought a new build house in the Colchester area lately. Would be interesting to know of any discounts/ incentives you were given. I didnt have much luck when I reserved my property last month.

  • I've lived in the Colchester area for all of my 34 years of age. It is the UK's fastest growing town, and most of the new builds seem to be purchased by London commuters. My Brother in the past year has moved to the Cooks Shipyard development in Wivenhoe, he recieved no discount. This is within 5 minutes walk to the station with 2 trains per hour to Liverpool Street. Most of his neighbours are commuters, and I wouldn't of paid 400k for a 4 bed semi.

My other Brother post divorce purchased a new high spec flat near to the football ground, he again did not receive a discount. In my opinion Colchester is just one big car park
, the hospital is appalling in my experience and is full to capacity, ditto schools and GP practices.

It is not a nice place to socialise of a night, I choose to reside in Wivenhoe 3 miles outside of Colchester because of work reasons and to be near family for whom I have a caring responsibility.

You have probably passed it then, as considering it has a university and a few thousand soldiers, the night life isn't that bad. Its got a zoo, a decent town centre, retail parks, 3 or 4 superstore supermarkets, a park and castle, rail links etc, its a good place to live. Im not local, i moved here from the north west.

    Bump OP to anybody else?
