I am upgrading the ram on my Laptop to 2GB, by way of 2 1GB cards. I have put the first card in the spare slot and all is well, but where is the original card.
I need to remove the original 512MB card and replace it with the new 1GB card.
Can anyone offer any help please.
The Laptop is a Toshiba Notebook m50 series.
I have checked the manual and there is no mention of the original card at all.

I thought of that, but there was a piece of silver foil type stuff that stopped you seeing what was underneath and i was frightened to touch it in case it was important (must be there for a reason). Not ashamed to say ABBA are Great :j0

You may be right, what i did was a scan on the crucial.com web-site and it said i could have 2GB,so that's what i ordered. I may have to phone them.
thanks for helping..Not ashamed to say ABBA are Great :j0 -
it's sometimes not that hard, the strip at the top above the keyboard pops out normally , think there is a small slot above the F1 key, you pres down the key and gently prise the strip up that sits between the keyboard and the screen.
under that are 2 screws holding in the keyboard, undo them and carefully lift it up as there will be a ribbon cable connecting it to the motherboard, look underneath and see if you can see the slot (may have a sodimm already in)Ex forum ambassador

If i did try to do this, i would remove the battery 1st, but i wouldn't need to follow all those steps just to change the memory. Would i just need to start from removing the keyboard ?Not ashamed to say ABBA are Great :j0
