UTube to DVD to TV

Can anyone tell me how to go about burning videos from UTube onto a DVD so that I can watch them on TV?
I've got the basic edition of RealPlayer and can download stuff OK but after burning onto discs I can't get them to re-play in my CD/DVD players. What am I doing wrong and is there a programme that will do the whole thing in one go?

When you download video from YouTube, you will get a computer file. DVDs can either be used to store files (a bit like a hard drive) or special "DVD video". A DVD with computer files on it can only (normally) be read by a computer. To convert the computer files into the "DVD video" format so the disc will play in a standalone set-top DVD video player, you will need to "author" the DVDs so that they are in the right format.

One free application that can do this is DVDFlick: http://www.dvdflick.net/

Yes, the disk needs to be burned as a "video disk" rather than a pc data disk.

Windows Vista\7 comes with the free "Windows DVD Maker", which is a bit limited but does most things.

Or you could Download the popular "Nero" Trial. which is free for 15 days.
