Using a double duvet and cover on single bed?

I was thinking of doing this to save getting a valance which I find a nuisance when getting into the storage drawers.
It would cover the side of the bed, for sure, but would it look odd, do you think?

I actually like doing this.
Can tuck it in to keep warm in the winter.0 -
I do this. My single bed has a double quilt, and my king size bed has a super king size. Much better this way.0

I think it's a good idea, we have a double bed and use a king size quilt, there are less arguments and I don't get cold.0

I wouldnt use it instead of a valance as i think it will look weird - could you get a throw or bed spread to use?£2 Savers Club #156!
Looking for holiday ideas for 2016. Currently, Isle of Skye in March, Riga in May, Crete in June and Lake District in October. August cruise cancelled, but Baby due September 2016! :j0 -
Well, I ve done it. Got a king size cover on double duvet and it drapes very well. Covers the bed base so don't need valance. It is in my second spare room, quite small but gives a luxurious look, to me anyway. Can't wait for friends to come and stay. I paid £80 to stay in a single hotel room last month. Mine looks as good as, I think.0

I've done it (though I've got a double bed now). I like to snuggle up, especially when it's cold outside. Also the late, lamented, Jasper (Staffordshire Bull Terrier) slept at the end of my bed and was notorious for nicking the covers!
Even if I had a single bed now, I'd still stick with the double-duvet cover. Much nicer. x0
