Reality of felting a flat roof?

Is this something possible for the average person or does it require too much skill/specialist equipment? I've been quoted £1,000 for it and I'd rather keep the months salary if possible.

Thanks for reading.

Have you considered EPDM? Not cheap but easy to diy.

Something like this http://www.rubba-seal.co.uk/ although I am not recommending any particular company as I have never bought any.

Is that a big area for £1k for felt seems rather a lot. I recently got quoted including some replacement boards and facias £800 for a large garage for felt. Other quotes for fibreglass for all boards replaced came in at 2.5k (seems expensive) 1.6k (vat free) and 1.2k which I am going with the cheaper quote. If your going for a new flat roof may as well go for something that lasts like EPDM or fibreglass which should last a lot longer than felt

I have several flat roofs (porch, bay, extension and another garage) which are EPDM and none have leaked.

I'd have to measure, its probably 8-10 meters by 3-4. The felt roof has lasted a good while, but it's a high expense as it is, not too keen on going even more expensive for Fibre Glass. I will look into this rubber stuff though I'd be concerned at ordering an exact size as I don' know what kind of lip it needs on the edge.

The roof is proper wood boards, so is it a case of remove everything, but down first layer, put on edges that feed into gutters then put down the top layer with whatever adhesive?

It turned out to be about 6x3m. The price for the EPDM with a bunch of adhesives and edging was about £400 at the higher length I had estimated so it might be not too bad cost wise, and the videos make it SEEM like it is something you can do on your own. Though the videos aren't always super clear. My major concern is just having enough overhang on top of the width to compensate for the two raised edges I'd have to have against my house and partly the neighbors.
