How long should it be between Offer and Response?

Hi,
We have put an offer in on a house that has been on the market for over 9 months. It is on for £174,950 and we have offered £160k.
It has been 7 days since we put the offer forward, but we haven't heard back with a response from the estate agents.
We are first time buyers, so is this normal, or is something not right?

No, not normal, if they are having problems getting hold of the vendor, or they are mulling it over, you should have been told, chase them up and ask whats occuring.Pawpurrs x

that seems like a long time to me , we put our offer in a 3-30pm and got call to say it had been excepted at 5-50pm same day
would definitely ring the EA and ask whats going on0 -
If they need more time, suggest you put a time limit on how long your offer is going to last. If they have not snapped it up, I suspect you've got your answer. OR it might be they had a few more viewings scheduled so they wanted to get through them first, see if any offers came in then consider yours. That way if they do accept yours you can insist they take it off the market and stop viewings and they can accept. Call your EA first thing in the morning (or now if you have their mobile number!)0

It took our vendors a month to get back to us and accept the offer...!
But they did accept in the end! (our offer was £75,000 below asking, and they had refused outright an offer for the same a week before, but we are local to the area and a nice family so told the agent to put it to them like that!

Maybe the vendor is on holiday and the estate agent is too lazy to let you know.0
