Bolt cutters

Hi can someone please tell me if a set of bolt cutters can cut through:

A. 16mm shackle of a D lock

B. 18 mm shackle of a D lock
This is to help me decide which D lock to buy.

Thanks

Do you mean a D shape bike lock ?
The thieves use a felt tip pen bottom and not bolt cutters, they can open them quicker than you can with the key.
    Be happy...;)

Yes the D lock and that was the old type circle key the new Kryptonite has a fancy flat key.

They had to do something, the felt tip trick and the other was chewing gum remover down the hatch and they just fell off.

I was under the impression standard issue thieving !!!!! scum 42" bolt croppers had jaws that only opened about 14-15mm, so were no use against a decent 16-19mm chain. No?

As such, to overcome these they need either pneumatic croppers, smash/pick the lock, attack what you're chained to or remove wheel from bike (going through frame on a motorbike ain't always possible).

Also, aren't most D-locks attacked via mini jack shoved between them jacked out until they break? Hence chains are a better buy.

There is the Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboudit Mini
Which has an 18mm shackle and the New York Lock Standard which has a 16mm shackle both have a double dead lock too.

    Hence the question thanks

The mini is good to use as it stops thieves using a bottle jack to bust the lock the large lock you will find weighs more than the bike.

I have both locks but use the mini at work with a cable to secure the front wheel, no quick release mechanism on the wheels or the saddle as I ride a single speed bike to work, luckily its works car park so its safer then chaining a bike outside.
