Amazon Refund Accident.

I recently bought a laptop on Amazon, for the value of £749.99. I had an issue and a replacement was sent out to me but arrived broken. I contacted them and was told to take the parts that I needed from the new one in order to resolve the issue with the old one and I did so, sending the laptop back to them after. I then, mistakenly, received a refund for the original value of the laptop.
I contacted them as soon as I found out and they said they would call me back the following Monday. It is now three weeks later and I have no heard from them. If I still have not heard in the next few weeks, instead of waste my time chasing them up, if I were to donate the money, would Amazon be able to chase me up about it?
Thanks,
Tim

Yes, they can request the money from you for the next six years.
Drop them an email, or speak to them on live chat.0 -
As long as 6 years? o.O I'll give them some time and if they don't get in touch soon I'll contact them, I've already done so though, I don't see why I should waste my time on hold for them when they didn't contact me back though.0

You've already contacted them about it so the ball is in their court - I'd whack it in a high interest instant access savings account and keep very quiet...0

In the time it has taken you to write this you could have contacted them.
Would you be so reluctant to contact them if it was the other way round, and they owed you money?0 -

 Dumb question of the day.
OP has already contacted them. He can't force them to take the money.0 -

My point exactly, I have already contacted them and not received any reply. I've actually read a lot saying Amazon aren't all that interested anyway so I'll hold on to it, keep it earning me some interest and if they want it they can have it back when they ask for it :T0

People don't believe it....but Amazon are not interest in big ticket errors. I got a camcorder, worth more than this for free a few months back.
They have no urgency to get back to you, and when they did, they said keep it.0 -

May I ask, what was the process you took when it came to getting to this conclusion? Did you inform them first?0 -

It was a different set of circumstances...sort of.
They sent me a very high end camcorder, addressed to me, but not my order. They couldn't be bothered to get back to me really. They asked me to send it back at my expense. You'd think they'd have been banging on my door with a courier!
I refused, as they only wanted me to send unregistered post :rotfl: I offered them the opportunity to pick up...they emailed me to say I could keep it.0
