thomas cook "confirmation invoice"

hi all,

i received (by email) a confirmation invoice from thomas cook on Sat for a holiday on 23rd august

the invoice shows that i have a balance of near E2500, but it is paid in full (i have an invoice that i got in store when i paid it)

i have phoned them to ask about it and they tell me that it is a generic email from the tour operator,

i fear that the branch have my money, but so far, have just not passed it on, but they deny this, telling me "it is just a generic email", funny how it has all my personal details on it then i said!!

anyone else ever had anything like this?

tia

piggy,

Did you book with a Thomas Cook branch or a different travel agents? The only email you should receive should be from the branch that you booked with not direct from the tour operator . Travel agents pay tour ops on statement so it possibly had not reached the Thomas Cook accounts from the travel agents but the travel agents would have your file showing a nil balance. Hope this helps.

I booked in my local TC branch,
When I phoned them today they told me the email was a generic one from the tour operator, which is what makes me think the branch hasn't passed on my money.

It is a generic email from the Tour operator Thomas Cook. All balances collected in the TC shops are banked every day, think its HSBC they use, so the money sits in TCs head office account until the relevant tour operator asks for the balance, of which there is a difference in dates, the shops ask for the money in plenty of time to get to the tour op so no holidays get cancelled because they haven't got payment in time. The shop unless its an independent don't sit on the money they haven't got it. Also if the shop has given you a discount it won't say on the invoice/ticket as that is a private transaction between you and the shop, which will be on the receipt issued by the shop.
